Blog 4

Even though I know how to change my oil, I always take it some place to get it done. It is just easier since I work full time and am also a full time student with a social life. So it just tends to work better that way.
I took it to get changed, with it being a new car with only a little over three thousand miles and according to the dealer they had it changed right before I took it off the lot I still wanted to get it changed. I do not really trust dealers. I pulled it in the shop and told the men working there that I wanted an oil change and that is it. I went in after work so I had on a pair of heels and a business suit type outfit. About ten minutes later one of the men came out and said that I needed a new air filter (mine was dirty) and that I should think about having a transmission flush done (that my transmission fluid was a little discolored). I pretty much laughed at him and asked him how he figured a new car would need any of that. He kind of stammered and stuttered a little bit and then came up with the line, “If you do not want them to do it that is fine.” I laughed again and said, “No, I do not want it done. I am not stupid; I work on cars for pete sakes. Don’t treat me like some invalid that does not have the slightest idea when a transmission flush should be done or when my air filter should be changed.” He did not say a word after that.
After that, I will not go there again. I will do it myself. It makes me wonder if my boyfriend had taken my car in if he would have been treated the same way.
